Program Description

Welcome to the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) at Brock University!

The IELP offers quality instruction in five skills: Reading, Listening, Writing, Speaking and Grammar. As well, we also offer accent modification as part of our curriculum.

Our teachers have excellent training and much experience and our administrative staff is friendly and helpful.

We would like to help you develop your English skills and to give you a chance to learn more about Canada.

During the program, you will enjoy many trips and events that exemplify many aspects of Canadian life in the Niagara area. Here are some activities you may take part in.

Since 1982, the Intensive English Language Program at Brock University has offered English courses to students from all over the world. Some students wish to improve their English skills in order to advance their studies in their own countries or for future employment. Others work to increase their language proficiency before applying for acceptance to North American universities. Students who meet academic requirements and who complete the final level of the IELP can be accepted at Brock University without submitting a TOEFL score.

Program Description

Brock's BBA program combines professionally oriented business courses with studies in social sciences, humanities, mathematics and science. Our graduates enjoy a wide variety of employment opportunities in industry, commerce and government, and many have gone on to graduate studies in law, business and public administration.

The BBA Co-op (Honours) program combines academic and work terms over a four and one-half year period. Students spend two years in an academic setting studying the functional areas of business as well as the Canadian and global business environments prior to the first work term. The exposure to courses in the core areas of business provides the necessary academic background a valuable work experience

On successful completion of the program, the degree Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) or Bachelor of Business Administration is awarded.  The BBA Co-op designation will be awarded to those students who have honours standing and who have successfully completed a minimum of twelve months of Co-op work experience.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum Level of Education Required: Grade 12 / High School
  • Min GPA: 82.0% Convert grades
  • English Proficiency Requirements:
    For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
    • Min TOEFL iBT: 88 (Min Writing: 21.0, Min Speaking: 21.0)
    • Min IELTS overall: 6.5 (Min Reading: 6.0, Min Writing: 6.0, Min Listening: 6.0, Min Speaking: 6.0)
    • Min Duolingo English Test Score: 110
    NOTE: Applicants interested in applying for direct admission, but are yet to complete an acceptable language test, can do so, but must provide valid results before receiving a final offer letter.
    For conditional admission, instead of submitting language proficiency test scores, applicant may complete English courses prior to the academic program. The length of the English course is determined based on the applicant's level of English proficiency.

Program Description

In the Biotechnology program you will be on the forefront of research in this exciting and knowledge-based industry. You’ll take courses in biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology to explore the use of living organisms to produce goods and services for practical and industrial purposes. 

Career opportunities in biotechnology are expanding rapidly due to a dramatic increase in global market demands for biotechnology products. Biotechnology has been around us for years; for example, in the fermentation of wine and beer, and the making of bread and cheese. As a modern biotechnologist, you’ll learn new applications using new scientific tools, including recombinant DNA technology, genetic and protein engineering, cell fusion, and gene cloning and expression.

The Biotechnology Co-op program allows you to combine academic and work terms and gain valuable work experience. As a co-op student, your degree will be completed in five years, and will include three four-month work terms. You’ll complete four academic terms before beginning your first work placement.

  • English Proficiency Requirements:
    For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:

    • Min IELTS overall: 6.5 (Min Reading: 6.0, Min Writing: 6.0, Min Listening: 6.0, Min Speaking: 6.0)
