On July 1, 2017 Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University joined together to form a distinctive national university focused on setting a new standard for 21st-century professional education – the new Jefferson. As the world and society continue to evolve, Jefferson will continue to lead and to provide our students with unparalleled value. The world of higher education is on the verge of many new challenges.

When Jefferson saw the need to stay ahead of them, the university made a revolutionary move. By integrating Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University to create one visionary institution, Jefferson set a new standard for higher education and the world.

Jefferson now provides a comprehensive professional education, with preeminence in architecture, business, design, engineering, fashion, health, liberal arts, medicine, science and textiles, creating an incredibly valuable impact for our students, faculty and society.

Why Jefferson University

  • Hands-on experience: 97% undergrads securing jobs or accepted into graduate schools.
    • In a world where rapid change is the norm, employers are seeking graduates who are ready for what’s happening right now and for what will come next. Jefferson’s distinctive, active, collaborative, real-world Nexus Learning approach is exactly what you need to gain that kind of competitive advantage.
  • Enhanced learning environment: At Thomas Jefferson University, the university has always believed they needed to create the professionals of the future. (they've been doing it since 1884.) Jefferson's method? It's called Nexus Learning™ — their signature approach that is making Jefferson a transformative force in higher education. Jefferson is preparing students for the future of work by ensuring development of critical skills employers seek for tomorrow’s work place.
    • Ever heard the phrase two heads are better than one? When great minds come together, solutions are found. Jefferson also believes those great minds don't have to think alike. At Jefferson, interdisciplinary student teams join forces with faculty and industry capitalizing on their respective talents and creating real value in the world.
    • Nexus Learning means just the right blend of theory and hands-on learning. Jefferson's signature approach provides students with a real competitive advantage in a rapidly changing world.
  • Campus life: Imagine a campus where students instantly feel connected to the world: Where they work with visiting students from Bangladesh, China, India, Jamaica, South Africa and Spain. Where they have opportunities to study abroad, and travel to England, Japan, Israel or Italy. Where they can volunteer in Rwanda and Honduras. Imagine immersing in global fashion design, international business, or studying within the UK health system.
    • In an increasingly global academic ecosystem, Jefferson offers many opportunities to leverage their international partnerships and programs that will benefit students and drive important academic, clinical and research innovations. And when students take advantage of any of these opportunities, they give life to Jefferson’s mission and vision – to improve lives and ‘redefine what’s humanly possible’ across the globe. How cool is that?
